Jamie’s Joy 2008

In Loving Memory of
Jamie Morgan
on his 12th Birthday

"Morgan" from the Celtic languages
meaning "by the sea" and/or "bright sea".

Jamie Morgan certainly loved the water and
continues to be a bright light in all of our lives

Jamie even got in the toilet to be near the sea!

From the photos you can see that Jamie loved the water from the bath to the sea. As an infant he would eat sand by the handfuls, at 9 months he had to be rescued from the ocean by sissy after diving fearlessly into the waves. He loved his backyard pool and slip and slide. One of his last days on earth was spent dipping his feet in the San Diego river wondering why the other kids couldn’t take off their shoes and join his love of nature.

To honor the “Morgan” aspect of Jamie the advisory committee of the Jamie’s Joy Memorial Fund has chosen to focus on the life affirming nature of water and the ocean as the theme of giving for 2008. The following organizations have been chosen as this year’s recipients of the Jamie’s Joy Grant due to their dedication to bringing awareness and action to our local and global water worlds and those creatures, including us humans who depend on them for life.

"Tears are salt water from the sea. Because when you go to the ocean the water gets in your eyes,
the wind gets in your eyes and blows out all the water. That’s all. It’s like rain" Jamie, 5 years old
