Previous Recipients Of Jamie's Joy Memorial Fund Grants
Children’s Hospital of San Diego is the
hospital where Jamie was cared for at his time of transition. Jamie’s Joy has a
yearly tradition of sponsoring a concert featuring
Karl and Jeanne Anthony for the in-patient children and another
concert for bereaved families and the public at the hospital. Fran DeVoss,
Jamie's Grandmother, CD of Lullabies was also given to the kids at Children's
Hospital.
The I Am Foundation donates books to
organizations and people who can’t afford them. The Jamie's Joy Fund sponsored a
shipment of children’s books and CD’s to several locations. The Language Academy
in San Diego (Jamie's Spanish/French/English immersion school) received Aesock's
Travels by Gretchen McMasters The books are English on one side/ Spanish on the
other. The book Yo Soy was distributed to the entire 4th grade class at the
Language Academy. 50 copies of I Am by Steve Viglione (Affirmational children's
book) was given to Kid's Camp through Unity. A CD of Lullabies by Fran DeVoss
was given to The Neighborhood House Head Start Program to be distributed to
every site in San Diego County
Its Just The Kids: An organization
that sponsors volunteer groups to go to Cuba and build playgrounds. Elene went
in 2005, building playgrounds and very much felt Jamie's presence.
Jenna Druck Foundation Children’s
Program: Based in San Diego, the foundation provides a variety of no-cost
bereavement services to help families after the death of a child. The children’s
program provides support & activities to siblings who are children or teenagers.
Kid’s Camp: sponsorship of a child to attend a local summer camp through
Unity Church.
Parent’s Circle- Families Forum;
Bereaved families of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict supporting peace,
reconciliation and tolerance through providing support to Israeli and
Palestinian families as well as campaigning for a peace agreement that will
resolve the conflict and open a new chapter in Israeli-Palestinian relations.
Responsibility: An organization founded by David Lynch who has been
providing an education to the children of Tijuana. Located on the site of a dump
where the students reside, the school affords the only local educational
opportunity these children will have.

Foundation sponsor a child providing for their basic needs for one year
Smile Train: In the
spirit of Jamie’s infectious smile, smile train was granted for the opportunity
they give children around the world born with cleft palates to also have a
wonderful smile. Besides bringing a smile to their faces, the surgery performed
also can help them regain the ability to eat and speak properly. 100% of
donations go to programs
Tariq Khamisa Foundation: Locally-based (San
Diego) foundation established in memory of Tariq Khamisa, slain in 1995 by Tony
Hicks. Founded by Tariq’s father and Tony’s grandfather, The organization
