Elene, Mychael and Jamie came to the house for dinner and to discuss
business details of a AOU conference we were a part of. After dinner Karl,
Mychael and Elene began their meeting. I decided to hang out with Jamie and
be filled in on the details later.

I showed Jamie the toy selection I had. He sifted through things and found
a kaleidoscope! He eagerly explored it and looked through it like a pirate
seeking land. He was instantly taken by all the colors and shapes he saw
and carried on lengthy conversations with the kaleidoscope practically glued
to his eye.

Together we discovered that if you put objects in front of the kaleidoscope
that the pattern and colors change. Jamie got so excited about what he was
now calling, "the movie" that he HAD to show his parents and Karl! He
quickly made it to the office in a variety of runs, jumps and skips! He
excitedly entered and stated that he had something to show them, "a movie"!

Elene and Mychael have a natural ease in their ability to prioritize a
situation when it comes to parenting and both in unison stop what they were
doing. After everyone rejoiced with Jamie, we left, to let them finish up
the meeting. Jamie was obviously very pleased by the shared excitement for
his discovery, as he grinned from ear to ear. He turned to me and gleefully
said, we are so LUCKY! Why I asked? Because we get to play and the
adults...... have to do all the boring stuff.
Oh, I chuckled. Yeah, they sit around and just talk, that is boring! In
that moment Jamie believed he was the luckiest boy in the world. Not only had
he discovered the magic of the kaleidoscope, he also rescued his parents and
Karl from adulthood!

_______________

My experience of spending time with Jamie is continually having my heart
explode with love and wonder. After a few hours I said to Mychael. How do
you live with your heart exploding every 30 seconds with love? Is that
what its like for you! Mychael responded, all the time and it's great!

________________

I remember Jamie as all boy! His way was the experiential way! He
always seemed to believe he could do anything. He curled 8 pound weights at
age 5 with a huge smile on his face and leapt off any step or platform. I
remember one time he was lifting himself up with his arms onto the kitchen
counter. Elene gently said be careful. I CAN DO IT he boldly argued!
Well, he certainly was strong making his way half way up but wasn't quite
strong enough, he slipped bumping his chin. Jamie was more startled than
hurt. All checked in on his well being. Not one "I told you so" ..comment
was made. Jamie merely seem to learn that it didn't work that time, and
from the look in his eyes you knew he would try again.

Tons of Love
